Mark Li

Mark Li is a Post-doc in Saw Lab. He is interested in studying the collective behaviours of cells and tries to manipulate the cell behaviours using in vitro techniques, such as surface geometries and electrical signals.

Before joining the lab, he completed his Ph.D. from the Department of Biomedical Engineering, National University of Singapore. His thesis was about the 3D curvature effect on collective cell migration.

He enjoys music, movies, traveling, and trying all the new stuff in his life. Viva La Vida!

Xiao-Wei Xiang

Xiao-Wei Xiang is a Post-doc in the Saw Lab, specializing in bioelectrical skin engineering and collective interaction with electrical signals. He holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Fudan University, focusing on microsecond pulsed electric field mediation in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. Xiao-Wei combines biology and electrical engineering in his research.

Beyond academics, he enjoys photography, cherishing moments and memories. He looks forward to collaborating on cutting-edge bioelectrical skin engineering research in the Saw Lab, aiming to contribute meaningfully to science and technology.

Ping Xu

Ping Xu is a second-year Ph.D. student in Saw lab. She completed her master's degree in Optical engineering at China Jiliang University and she was an optical engineer in Zhejiang Uniview.

Now, in Saw lab, she is interested in the biophysics control of 3D tissues with dynamic methods, the physical field mapping of electric and flow fields surrounding the tissue and inside the cell body to study their functions.. In the lab, you can find her in the microscope room imaging how her cells respond to applied electrical and flow fields. Outside of the lab, you can never find her.

Lanzi Luo

Lanzi is a PhD in Saw lab. She grew up in Quzhou City, Zhejiang Province. She completed her undergraduate degree in Pharmacy at Harbin Medical University. And got her master’s degree in Pharmacy at Wenzhou Medical University. Her master research was to focus on the delivery of Nitric oxide (NO) gas to repair diabetic wound, for which she designed a hydrogel dressing with nitric oxide-carrying gas microbubbles. Now in Saw lab, she is interested in bioelectrical signals participate in and regulate collective migration of intestinal epithelial cells which is crucial for intestinal homeostasis.

In the lab, you can find her making chips for her intestinal organoid.

Outside of the lab, you can find her reading, playing badminton and skateboard, exploring the nature and new fun stuff.

Meimei Fang

Meimei is a research assistant in Saw lab. She grew up in Hubei. She completed her bachelor’s degree in Food Quality and Safety in Zhejiang Gongshang University. She completed her master’s degree in Food Engineering in South China University of Technology. Her research focused on the control of pathogenic bacteria in aquatic products. After obtaining her master's degree, she became a molecular cloning engineer in an in vitro diagnostic company and genetic engineering attracted her then. Now, in Saw lab, she is focusing on cell-line construction and may explore how ion pumps influence cell behaviour in the future.

In her free time, she may hang out with friends and cook delicious food.

Beibei Chai

Beibei is a lab manager in Saw lab. She graduated from Dali University in 2019 with a master's degree in Clinical laboratory diagnostics. She joined Saw lab in 2022, besides the lab, you can also talk any health problem with her. I hope you can make friends with her.

Jing Gan

Jing is a Administrative Assistant of Saw lab. She graduated from Zhejiang Gongshang University with her bachelor’s degree in 2019, majoring in food science and engineering&food safety and quality. After graduation, she got a position in the Zhejiang University industrial technology institute in Ningbo, working on administrative affairs. Then she joined Zhou lab as an administrative assistant in 2021.

She is from Zhoushan, Zhejiang, China. Her hometown is a beautiful island located in southwestern China. Recently she is interested in enterprise management, and focus on improving biological knowledge. She loves to play the piano and sing songs in her spare time. As an out-going girl, she would like to make friends with anyone!

Dingling Peng

Dingling (Bella) was a Visiting Student at Saw lab during her undergraduate, and returned as a Research Assistant. She studied at University College London (UCL) and obtained a Bsc in Natural Sciences (Cell and Molecular Biology & Synthetic Organic Chemistry), and MRes in Biological Sciences (Evolution and Origin of Life).

Currently at Saw lab, she is working on the molecular mechanisms of electrically regulated cell fate control. Particularly through looking at the nucleus (nuclear deformation, chromatin remodelling and phase separation).

She has an appetite for fundamental questions, and strives to understand different aspects of life through the molecular perspective, just as William Blake has put it: To see a world in a grain of sand/ And a heaven in a wild flower/ Hold infinity in the palm of your hand/ And eternity in an hour.
